1) Remove the old shower pan.
2) After removal of the shower pan, water damage to the wood sub-floor was discovered.
3) Cut out damaged section of the wood sub-floor exposing the floor joist.
4) Replace the section of sub-floor with a new piece of ply-wood.
5) Disassemble drain body and install felt/tar paper.
6) Put the screws back in the holes of the bottom flange of drain body.
7) Lay out shower pan liner on a flat surface.
8) Fold each side towards the middle.
9) Fold the other ends in toward the middle about 12".
10) Take one folded end and continue to fold towards the other end.
11) Place in shower stall and unfold.
12) Be sure to place shower pan liner over the screws of the bottom flange of the drain body.
13) After shower pan is unfolded it will look like this.
15) Wrap shower pan liner over the curb.
16) Wrapped curb should look like this.
17) Locate screws under shower pan liner, with a razor knife make a small slice over each screw and push the liner down to expose each screw.
18) Place top flange of drain body over screws and trace the inner circle.
19) Remove top flange of drain body and cut out the circle using a razor knife.
20) Apply silicone to the screws.
21) Reinstall top flange of drain body and tighten screws.
22) Install strainer body.
24) Install Durock above shower pan liner using a cut piece of 2x4 as a shim.
25) Apply tape to the drain to avoid cement from clogging.
26) Mix 2 parts sand to 1 part portland cement, mix to a damp consistancy so that you can form a ball as shown in the picture.
27) Dump cement into shower stall.
28) Use trowel to compact cement.
29) Use trowel to pitch and smooth cement.
14) Unfold sides of the shower pan liner and attach to the wall studs, be sure to place screws no lower than 9".
Caution:
Installing a shower pan can be done by someone who is handy so long as they have the right instructions. However this is not a job an average person would want to attempt due to the potential damage that leaking water can cause.
Installing a shower pan is a project that should only be done by professionals.
